Sydney AAHS Career Fair

Hello all!

I'm back from a one day trip to Sydney.. The day started off really bad but it ended well..

Woke up at 4am to get ready and headed to the airport for our flight.. The flight was pretty bad.. We were delayed for 30mins at the airport and up in the air for another 30mins because Sydney didn't have any space for us to land.. -.-'

In the end, we missed the first half of the lecture.. Met the rest of the ICHM-ers there.. =) And there were so many other hotel schools as well..

The Auditorium..

The Career Fair officially opened at 1030am and all the students rushed off to the various booths to sell themselves to their future employers..

Disney Cruise Line! Unfortunately, to join you need to be 21 and above.. And I get seasick so a defintie no-no for me.. =(

Walt Disney World! I can't believe they were there! Unfortunately again, you need to be an Australian/ New Zealand citizen to be part of the program.. =(

What's Minnie Mouse doing in front of other hotels' booths?! Haha..

And the many other booths on display.. I guess the hottest booths that day were Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Hyatt and IHG..

Paulina didn't come in the end so I ended up loning around the fair.. Haha.. Ended up just grabbing some information from some booths.. I'm guessing the fair was a great opportunity for those graduating to look for jobs..

Anyway, we gathered around 12pm and took a train down to Circular Quay for our lunch meeting with Four Seasons Hotel Sydney.. The trains were rather old though.. Anyway, guess what we saw at Circular Quay?

The Sydney Harbour Bridge! Haha..

So grand ain't it?
And also, the Sydney Opera House! Haha..

Too bad we didn't have time to go sightseeing..

Four Seasons Hotel Sydney and Shangri-la Sydney..

The Lobby..

We were treated to a light lunch and networking session with the executives of Four Seasons.. Learnt more about why they were so successful and some questions were asked.. Definitely one of the world's best employers..

Then we headed on to Hilton Sydney for a cocktail session and tour.. Long long walk there.. My feet were threatening to crumble.. Was splitted up in groups for a tour around the property..

The Front Desk.. Everybody agreed that the lobby was a very messy area.. The front desk was located in a too unstrategic location and concierge desks were located at some area.. It was like, got space don't waste kind of thinking..

And our "tour guide", Carl.. Well, he's actually the Room Service Manager.. Haha..

Went touring around to the business centre, spas, fitness centre, event venues, staff canteen etc.

I just thought this was so funny.. Haha.. It was located in the ballroom..

Taken while waiting for the other lift to arrive..

The only restaurant of the whole hotel.. But I don't mind having breakfast here.. Looks nice..

Real wine is located up there.. Haha.. When asked how they got them down, the bartendar replied that they had a ladder and rope to help them.. -.-'

On tour in the guest rooms.. The deluxe rooms were so tiny..

And in the Executive Club..

The view from the 36th Storey..

And the day ended with a lavish cocktail reception provided at one of the bars and the GM and various HODs came out to greet us.. Haha..

Collected our bags and headed in a taxi to pick Paulina up from her accommodation.. Straight to the airport after that to check in for our flight home.. Bought Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

Bye Bye Sydney!

We took Qantas home and it was so good to take a non- budget airline for once.. There really is a difference.. Haha.. And they provided dinner as well..

Reached home and could feel the effects of a tiring day immediately.. Ingrid and Jia helped me to cook noodles while I showered.. Thank You!

An end to a hectic day and it's back to school today again.. Haha..
