China May 2008 Day 6

Hello all! This is Day 6.. Man.. I'm so getting bored of posting about the China holiday but too bad I've already uploaded all the photos.. Haha.. Please bear with me..

Day 6- 28 May 2008

Left the hotel early for our domestic flight to Beijing.. Nanjing Airport was quite old and nothing much to do there as well..

That's my father trying to imitate Yao Ming.. Please don't mind him as well.. Haha.. Anyway, the aircraft we were on was so old and had a funny smell in the toilets.. Gosh.. Lucky it was just a short 1.5 hrs flight and we soon reached Beijing's Terminal 3! It's the longest airport in the world and we even had to take a shuttle bus to reach the arrival hall..

After collecting the luggage, we flagged a cab to our apartment which was only a short 20 mins drive away.. The driver was a lady and she kept complaining and complaining about how she has just q-ed for 3 hours only to pick us up.. And what dumb luck she had.. Man.. Aren't they str8 forward eh? Haha.. We were so scared she was going to dump us on the streets and drive away with our luggage.. However, she sort of cooled down abit after we told her we were gonna hire her taxi the next day to bring us to the attractions around Beijing..

Checked in to our service apartment and walked over to the shopping centre nearby to eat lunch.. China's Yoshinoya is nice.. Hehe.. Afterwhich, we took a cab to "Wang Fu Jin".. It's another modern shopping district.. Bought lots of Beijing Olympics 2008 souvenirs there.. That's like the only thing the whole of China was selling at the moment..

Headed over to a small street that sold local products along with some small items.. Bought a pair of chopsticks for RMB40 from Vendor No. 1.. The vendor beside him sold me another 2 pairs for the same price as well.. Kana cheated.. Oh well.. Next stop was "Tian An Men".. Took like a very long walk there..

On the way there, we saw this newscaster and realised that the leader of Taiwan's Guomintang, Wu Bo Xiong was in Beijing to visit the president thus the newscaster..

And also, some VIP from South Korea was also here to visit China..

Stood in the parade square above to wait for the daily flag lowering ceremony.. We didn't even notice that the flag was being lowered as there was no music or anything, just a lot of policemen walking here and there..

We headed back to "Wang Fu Jin" to eat Peking Duck after that.. Ordered the whole duck for the 3 of us as we normally only ate half of it and the rest can be used for other dishes.. We chose to boil soup with it.. Yum Yum..

Next up is the main attraction of the day: The Roadside Stalls! Look at what they're selling.. Scorpions, chicken heart, seahorses, that round round insect etc. Bon Appetit! Hehe..

Ok.. That's it for Day 6.. Stay tuned!
