China May 2008 Day 5

Hello all! Here is Day 5! Not much pictures as it was mainly a day of shopping..

Day 5- 27 May 2008

Again, my father had his conference in the morning leaving me and my sister alone.. As we had nothing important on in the morning, we woke up a little later.. Wanted to leave the hotel for some shopping but realised that the Olympic Torch was going through Nanjing that day so most of the roads would be closed up.. In the end, we stayed in the hotel room watching the torch pass from one person to another until the end.. They had 208 torch bearers in all! Can you imagine how long we actually stared into the TV? Haha..

Anyway, took a cab to Hunan Road and started our shopping spree.. Just a tip for shopping in China.. Avoid the department stores as their prices are similar to Singapore.. However, if you wish to skip the trouble of bargaining and want to get a confirm guarantee that the stuff you're getting is authentic, then the shopping mall is yours.. Haha.. Bought a belt and a bag while my sister got a pair of shoes and a watch..

The sky started to get real dark but it didn't start raining until 1 hour later.. By then, we were inside KFC having our lunch..

The chicken used in China's KFC is kinda different from Singapore's.. I personally find the chicken to be a juicer.. Even the breast meat is juicy.. Get my drift? Haha.. So we stayed inside until the rain before heading out to get a cab to our next destination.. Waited almost 20 mins for the cab..

According to one of the taxi drivers, if you can get a cab during rainy weather in China, it's like striking 4D.. Becos when it rains, it seems like the whole town is taking a cab.. Anyway, we went back to "Fu Zi Miao" for some additional shopping but again it was raining heavily so we cabbed back to the hotel..

Decided to go swimming after reaching the hotel and only swam for about 15 mins cos the pool water was so murky and it was indoor and I was the only person swimming.. Quite scary eh? So ended up eating instant noodles and watching TV while waiting for my father to return from work..

Then we headed to Nanjing's Second Bridge to see the Long River but it was too misty to see anything so we drove on to First Bridge where it was slightly clearer but not much difference.. Haha..

I haven't seen a rotating door in ages.. So I decided to take the one in the hotel.. Hehe..

Ok.. That's Day 5.. Stay tuned!
