China May 2008 Day 8

Hello all! This is Day 8!

Day 8- 29 May 2008

We took a picture with the bird nest before heading for breakfast..

And this is a something different at China's Mac.. It's called McPuff.. Basically it's like apple pie but the outer is puff pastry and the inside is egg, ham and cheese..


Next, we cabbed to the Forbidden Palace.. Hired a tour guide to bring us around and at the same time, the package included the guide taking a video of us touring the palace.. A very big place with lots of rooms..

We had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our video to be burned into a CD.. In the meantime, we saw a pair of tour guides arguing with each other over some handphone.. It was quite a bad argument as everyone was looking and they were crying etc.

Next up, we cabbed to the Temple of Heaven.. And this was the main icon of the place.. Nothing much to do there though..


Craving for some shopping so we cabbed to Xidan for some cheap shopping.. Saw this very cool The Nightmare Before Christmas shop.. And there was a Disney shop as well.. Hehe.. And I got my first insight on the horrors of bargaining in China.. One of the shop girls got so mad when we refused to buy her clothes after a failed bargaining.. It was so scary..

There was a new shopping mall opposite and so we headed over to take look.. It was all branded goods but it had a cinema so we went up to see whether they had any movies.. To our surprise, all of the movies were in Chinese.. Haha.. But the cinema was damn pretty..

Cabbed home and glued our eyes to the TV and ate this instant curry rice.. Not bad the rice..
