So, I got bored today and started playing around with some old photos and a new program I downloaded called Photomatix.. It creates High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDRI) images.. Seeing that I do not have a good collection of photos to practice with, I drove down to the entrace of Grand Teton National Park to capture some..
To create a HDRI image, firstly, you have to take shots of the exact same image in different exposures, at least 3 or more.. So as you can see, the shot of the left is one where it is over exposed, meaning its too bright.. The one in the middle is the normal exposure while the one on the right is under exposed meaning is too dark.. All of them have their own good features but taking them alone does not bring out the best of the photo.. Therefore, you combined all 3 images into one photo to create a HDRI image..
And tadah! HDRI allows you bring out the best spots of all the images into one photo.. Doesn't the effect of the clouds meeting the mountain just magnificent? =) Oh, and I have the watermark on my picture becos I'm using the trial version.. Hehe..
Another example..
Twinkle twinkle and voila! Another image! I like how the snow reflects off the sunrays at the bottom.. But I think I could have made the picture a little brighter.. Hehe..
