I've finally gotten back my camera so here are the pictures from the Food Fest yesterday..
Some countries started cooking since Friday but Singapore decided to start at 2pm on Saturday itself.. Haha.. Vanessa, Charlotte and I started on the Beancurd- Barley drink and realised there was no free stove.. So we had to wait for Vietnam to finish.. Then we started slicing the cucmbers, luncheon meat, marinating chicken wings, boiling eggs..
The 3pm crew came in and Amanda helped to solve the rice problem.. There was too much rice in the cooker so the rice wasn't cooking.. Sylvester and Aisah started frying the chicken wings.. Andrew oven-baked ikan bilis and fried eggs.. I went to roast the peanuts.. The 4pm crew came in and helped with the rice problem as well.. Edwin and Marian went to fry the ikan bilis..
And we finished everything by 5pm.. Ho ho ho! Last country to start, second to finish right after Indonesia and they were one of those countries that started cooking last night.. Haha.. Goes to show how simple ours was right?
All the 15 countries hard at work in the kitchen! The chef was so patient and nice to get us everything we needed.. And even better still, we didn't have to clean up at all.. =)
And Voila! The Singapore Station.. I didn't know why we were given such a huge station though.. Haha..
The Beancurd- Barley drink that took us almost 3 hours to cook! Very very nice! Mama, I know how to cook liaoz!
Our Nasi Lemak! It smelt like coconut but tasted like chicken rice cos we added in chicken stock the last minute.. Haha.. Aren't we just multi-cultural?
All the side dishes.. The chef bought the wrong peanuts for us.. He bought the Chinese restaurant kind.. Haha.. My first time ever eating Nasi Lemak with Chinese restaurant peanuts.. But we are definitely multi- cultural aren't we? =)
The Chilli Sauces.. Haha.. I bought these when I went shopping with Irene the other day.. I didn't know which one to buy so I ended up buying 4 different flavours of Sambal.. =p And they were all not for Nasi Lemak.. Am I clever or what? Haha..
Our very impromptu addition! Kopi- Tarik! Haha.. The supermarket ran out of tea powder.. -.-'
Haha.. And our traditional Tarik Uncle- Nash.. He worked for Singapore Satay Club before and therefore yeah.. We wanted him to wear singlet and sarong but he refused.. Haha..
People Mountain People Sea! There were so many countries' dishes to choose from lah.. I can't rmb all of them but there was Taiwan, Indonesia, Australia, Russia, Seychelles, Korea, Japan, Thailand, India, Welsh, Vietnam, South Africa etc. I loved the Taiwanese's Bubble Tea and the Tom Yam from Thailand!
Our nearby neighbour, Indonesia!
Muahaha.. So patriotic sia..
We came dressed in Red and White and Marian came dressed as the Singapore Girl.. Haha.. She was like "Emergency Exit is that way! Want water don't ask me take yourself!" -.-'
The Russia skewer thing that tasted damn good!
And some Russian magic trick.. Haha..
Er.. Muahaha..
Haha.. Your regular suck toothpick old dirty uncles sitting by the roadside.. Haha..
Our Tarik Uncle was missing so Edmund decided to have a go at it.. Haha.. His position so funny..
And Andrew had a go at it too!
Don't we just love Singapore? Muahaha..
Ok.. End of Food Fest!
